Understanding Your New Risk Score Reports

A New Genetic Report Is Coming to Your Catalyst Results

You will soon receive new insights about how your genetics may influence risk for certain health conditions.

What New Results Are Being Released?

Four new genetic reports are being released. You will receive three. These reports are called Polygenic Risk Scores (PRS) which estimate how your genetics may affect your risk for certain health conditions.

Everyone Receives

Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)

Heart disease by narrow or blocked arteries.

Type II Diabetes (T2D)

The body has trouble controlling blood sugar.

You Will Also Receive One More

Female Breast Cancer

You will receive an email from MyOme when your reports are ready with instructions on how to view your results.

Reports are being released in phases, so participants may receive their results at different times.

Your Questions, Answered

Find answers to common questions about your new genetic reports.

These reports are meant to inform, not diagnose.

A Polygenic Risk Score (PRS) uses many small differences in your DNA to estimate your risk for certain health conditions.

It does not diagnose disease.

Risk scores are calculated using many small differences in your DNA, called genetic variants.

Each variant may slightly raise or lower your chance of developing a certain health condition. When many of these variants are looked at together, they can help estimate your genetic risk.

To build these scores, scientists study DNA from large groups of people and look for patterns linked to certain conditions. Your Polygenic Risk Score (PRS) uses that research to estimate how your genetics may affect your risk.

A PRS does not diagnose disease, and it cannot predict with certainty whether you will develop a condition. Genetics is only one part of your overall health.

No. These reports estimate genetic risk. They do not tell you that you have a disease.

No. Everyone will receive reports for heart disease (CAD) and type 2 diabetes.

You will also receive one additional report based on your sex assigned at birth. If assigned female at birth, you will receive a breast cancer report, and if assigned male, you will receive a prostate cancer report.

Not all reports apply to every participant.
